Sometimes I feel that I "started living" very late. As in enjoying life.
I'm 27 and the furthest I've travelled is to Australia.
My younger sis has been to Sydney before she's even 21!
And I heard she's going to Bangkok during the next holiday.

Well, perhaps because my family isn't rich thus, we only travelled to Jakarta every school holidays (when we were still living in Makassar).
And it's totally not Indonesian culture for friends to travel together (during school), unlike Singapore's.

Well there was once in 2004 when my siblings + mom went to a Bangkok+Pattaya tour.
But my sis and I were already working so we paid our own share.

I think the only real travelling for me only started when I got married.
1st is of course our honeymoon in Maldives. Then to Krabi, Batam, Lombok, Australia, Phuket, Hong Kong, Cambodia.

Is it a wonder at all if I wanna travel lots first before I lost my freedom (to child/ren)?
Go figure.

Changes

As I've already mentioned before, I've changed a lot since my teenage years. I was more bubbly and loud and cheerful then.
Another thing that changed was that I used to share losta things with lotsa people. Well, maybe back then I changed boyfriend so often, boyfriends weren't my best friends (as compared to my current best friend is my hubby) thus, I shared things (usually about the bf) with other people.

I guess now that I think about friends, I only considered friends as close friends (as 'best' is supposed to be one person and that person can only be O, there rest has to be classified under close friends) if I've told them about the deepest things about me/my loved ones.

I wonder if friends can be 'downgraded' to become just acquaintances?
There sure are lotsa people that used to be close to me but have now become just acquaintances (some are to the extend of just being on my facebook list but no direct contact whatsoever)

If you've never ever heard me talking to you about (in random order):
sex, family issue, money issue, smoking, condom, pills and some other things (you get the hint, PERSONAL things)
then you're not one of my close friends

sleeping...

Hmm this is weird. I actually feel better when I have about 6.5 hours of sleep vs 8-10 hours.

Yesterday I tried to wake up at about 8.30am coz I wanted to go swimming at Mom's place, coz Kayla usually swims on Sat mornings (9.30am). But, I really couldn't wake up. And I slept again, woke up at 10+, slept again, woke up at noon, and finally really woke up at 2pm+, coz O was starving and he was saying something like "r u gonna sleep again? for how long more?" hahaha...
so we went downstairs to eat... he ate too much and once we were back up, he went to sleep..
i used internet for a while and also decided to also sleep again (i think it was 4.30pm)
i was briefly awake at about 6.30pm and then 8pm and i remembered vividly that O asked whether I wanna watch Ice Age 3.
I finally really woke up at 10pm. O bought the movie tickets for 12.05am, the 3D one at Cathay Cineleisure.. so, we went out at bouat 11+pm
We bought jumbo hotdog combo, plus nachos (not nice, GV's better but not that nice also lar)
The movie was funny, and it was my first time watching a full 3D movie.
And we ate BK after movie.

Slept at about 3am, woke up before 9.30am and I actually felt better.
Usually I have a headache whenever I sleep too much.

Hmm come to think about it, it might be because of so many weeks of interrupted sleep. Since I was in Jkt till a few days ago, I woke up every night coughing terribly. I notice my eye bag is bigger than usual.

I was so tempted to take a nap in the afternoon as I was home alone and it was raining, and I was tired after standing for nearly 2.5 hours accompanying O queueing for the hair for hope thingy... but I decided to do laundry, prepare my tomorrow's salad, make fruit juice, etc.

Hopefully my eye bag will be gone now, I don't cough these 2 days, I hope it's gone..

this passed my mind

do people have kids only to go through the process of bringing them up?
i keep wondering, why do people have kids. and it suddenly passed my mind, maybe people just wanna have something to do so, they have kids. they want the joy and sorrow of bringing up kids. i'm kinda sure there are more sorrow, but i think the joy is more than worth it?
but then again, when i think of how most kids dont turn up the way the parents want them to be, when i think about horrible monsterous teenage years, when i think about the loss of freedom, i still dont get ittttttttt
uh...

i think my problem is money

HMM if i have all the money in the world (ok, not all, but if i have a lot of money that i dont have to work) i'd spend some time volunteering, maybe at some church, orphanage (erm i think there's none in sg but i can always fly to indo for that) and then i'd have kids (just because everybody does it), and because in this scenario i have a lot of money, even if i have 10 kids i can still go europe for holiday, bringing them all.
and if i have that money i can always have many maids and driver
but then again i might feel guilty to leave the kids with maids so i might still miss my freedom. oh my. money is not my problem then? haha.. i'm just too lazy

i hate hate hate humidity

well today was OK coz it was raining heavily in the morning (erm not so OK in terms of waking up, i simply couldn't wake up haha.. was a bit late)

but i can't do anything without sweating like a pig whenever i'm not in an air-con-ed place. i'm glad i work in an air-con-ed office mondays to fridays otherwise i might just camp at starbucks or McD or something... sigh...
i don't mind the sweating if we're doing an outdoor thingy but usually we were going out and i already dressed up and made up and then sweat like a pig (-__-")
and what's even worse is, air-con-ed place is so cold, it's hard to dress in say, shorts or sleeveless top because then i have to bring a jacket.. arrgghh

food food food...

am supposed to start dieting. but how, you tell me. there are SO many eating occasions :p

1. last Wed O and I went to modesto's at vivocity
this was a visit after such a long hiatus, not that we were ever regulars.. sadly, the salmon tomato cream pasta was no longer on the menu! i didn't feel like having pizza thus, ordered beef bolognese penne. it was such a boring choice and i can actually cook it myself haha.. oh but we were ordering a set dinner for 2 and the choices were limited. thus the boring choice. anyway it was yummy.
oh and i must comment on their service, it was SUPERB! we ordered drink, but when it was finishing, the waitress brought us 2 glasses of ice water. and we didn't need to ask for top-up ever, they'd automatically come top-up our water when it was low...
and they only served our main courses when we finished our appetizers... ditto for desserts..

oh their tiramisu was one of the better ones i've tried. i don't know how original can tiramisu be, maybe i can only comment on originality when i've been to italy? haha..

but seriously, being in Singapore, this kinda service (at this kinda price, i don't know about fine dining, haven't been to any) is rare!

2. last Saturday we went to friends' son's 4th bday party / houseblessing. they had indonesian food, i ate so much... then we had dinner at Breeks... they had one for one ice cream dessert.. oh man, so sinful

3. last Sunday we had lunch with dad at earle swensen's vivocity... first time to the 'earle' branch instead of the usual swensen's
and they had salad buffet, came with any main course!
AND we shared nutty mighty sundae... MORE and more sinful...

4. we watched St.Paul the musical by church of St Mary of the angels and UCC.. it started at 7pm and only finished after 10pm. we had VERY late dinner at niqqi cheese prata at pasir panjang... i had 2 plain prata and ice milo dinosaur... at about 10.30 pm OMIGOD.. super sinful...

5. we just had dinner at Dallas restaurant & bar at boat quay because we've known for a while that they have 50% off baby back ribs every Mon & Tue nights.. and O had been dying to try them out :p
so we've FINALLY tried it. and it was yummy and it was S$28++ before discount for full rack (S$22++ for half rack), it came with potato wedges (heaps of them!) and a tiny portion of coleslaw (but it was yummy and enough, but very tiny as compared to the wedges portion)
we also ordered The Dallas Platter (S$14++ for 2, they also have S$26 for 4) which consisted of Dallas wings, chicken & cheese quesedillas, & salt and pepper calamari
all yummy
OH and to top it up, they were having happy hour so we had a pint each of stella artois and san miguel (S$8++ each). actually i ordered stella artois but found out i preferred san miguel (not as bitter!) thus, i swapped with O hee hee...

OK, that's about my sinful food recently.. not to mention the occasional doritos as dinners... damn... i really have to start my dieting soon!!

cooking for 2

when we just moved to our new home, i spent quite a lot on necessities such as cooking oil, soya sauce, etc. etc. etc.
thing is, items like onion and garlic are not sold in small amount, we have to buy quite a big bag each.
even though they can be kept for quite long, it's not THAT long.
i just threw away a bag or garlic and a bag of onion. only used a little bit. what a waste!
i probably should go back to buying chopped garlic (in a jar/plastic), although they don't smell as fragrant... sigh...
i also still need to buy more sauces.
when i start cooking, i realized the food doesn't taste as nice if i try to be too healthy.
and after asking grandma a couple of times, i realized her cooking tastes very delicious because she always uses oil, salt, sugar, soya sauce (both dark and light), and of course garlic.

hmm... i need to practice cooking more often.

i wanna go holiday with O

since last Nov, I haven't been to a holiday with O.
In fact, Nov'08 was to Jkt for friends' weddings. Not to mention it's JAKARTA, it never counts as a holiday :(

Even my 2nd trip to Jkt end Nov'08 was without O.
And then January'09 trip to Phuket with friends (colleagues).
And East Timor trip with COTE.
And again the Jakarta trip with siblings. I met O only once, for grandpa's bday dinner.

Omigod. I just realized, our last trip together (to a real holiday) was to Cambodia and that was in August'08 and it was only for 3D/2N and I was sick!!

OK, I really need to plan a holiday.
Hopefully Autumn in Japan.
I can't go THAT long without a proper holiday!!
